COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - It was an unfortunate turn of events for the Royals Wednesday evening at Saint John's University. The Bethel Men's Basketball team jumped out to an early sixteen point lead in the first half of regulation, only to see it slip away thanks to some hot shooting from the Johnnies in the second half. The Royals would unfortunately go onto lose 69-65
Daniel Baah (Jr., Farmington, Minn.) had an exceptional first half of play when he knocked down seven baskets for 16 points.
Greg Meyer (So., Brooklyn Center, Minn.) also played a solid first half, collecting 6 points. Everything appeared in the Royals favor as they went into halftime with a 33-20 lead.
Bethel led by 11 points with 12:04 left in the game and proceeded to miss eight consecutive shots and commit a turnover, which allowed the Johnnies to gain a one-point lead.
Christian Skinner (Fr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) ended the scoring drought for the Royals to put them ahead by one. Despite the basket, the Johnnies weren't t be stopped as they took the lead with 0:42 seconds remaining to take the game.
Baah led the Royals on the night with 26 points while Meyer finished with 14 points. Bethel will have a short break and travel to New Ulm, Minnesota next week where they take on Martin Luther College.
