BOX SCORE

BLAINE, Minn. - The Bethel Royals Men's Hockey team battled hard against the highly ranked St. Norbert Green Knights. A game that was marked with heavy hitting and heavy shooting, the Bethel Royals fell short in a 3-2 loss. While the style and intensity of the game marks a new era of Bethel Men's Hockey, the team is still in search of their first win as they head into conference play next weekend.

The first period of play began quickly when Jake Kogler (Jr. Forest Lake, MN) scored on the first Royal power play, with assists going to Tyler Sorenson (Fr., Madison, WI) and Mason Swenson (Jr., Eagan, MN). Bethel kept the ranked Green Knights from scoring on their 18 shots.

The Royals came out strong in the Second period, adding to their shot count and taking as many hits as they were giving. It wasn't until 18:34 into the Second, that the Green Knights hit the back of the net during an odd-man rush following their power play.

The Third period was filled with extensive neutral zone play as the Royals and the Green Knights battled for control of game. A high-sticking penalty was assessed to Senior forward Tom Menozzi and St. Norbert's capitalized on the man advantage with Brandon Longley (Sr., Elk River, MN) scoring, giving the Green Knights a 2-1 advantage. Soon after, the Royals answered back with another goal scored by Jake Kogler. Goaltender Zac Bush (So. Tyler, TX) accumulated 39 saves on the night, but the Green Knights scored once again, during a scramble for the puck in the slot. The game finished 3-2 in favor of the St. Norbert's Green Knights, making the Bethel Royals' overall record (0-4-0).
