Box Score

MOORHEAD, Minn.
- Chris Vavra (Sr., Cambridge, Minn.) scored 17, while Nate Robertson (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) posted yet another double-double in a 70-53 win over the hosting Concordia Cobbers today.

Bethel held a small lead at 35-33 going into the halftime break, and emerged from the locker room with a new sense of determination to stop the Cobbers on offense. Bethel held Concordia to just 20 points in the second half, all the while maintaining the same offensive output as the first half. The Royals forced eight second half turnovers and scored nine points off those miscues, compared to making just three turnovers of their own.

In addition to Vavra and Robertson, Rob Lang (Sr., Johnston, Iowa) and Greg Meyer (Fr., Brooklyn Center, Minn.) also posted double-digit point totals, with each scoring 10. However, the most telling individual statistic was that Zach Hurd (Jr., Portage, Mich.) recorded six steals, which was more than the entire Concordia team combined.

John Fraase scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Cobbers, while two other Concordia players reached 10 points to help lead their cause.

The Royals were 4-for-9 from behind the three-point arc, while the Cobbers were a dismal 2-for-17. Bethel also shot far better from the free throw line, making better than 80% of their shots from the charity stripe, compared to just 54.5% on the other end of the court.

With the win, Bethel climbs above .500 for the first time since early in the season, but is just 6-8 in conference play heading into the final six games. Meanwhile, Concordia is 8-11 overall and 4-10 in MIAC play. The Royals will remain out on the road for their next game as they head down Snelling Avenue to take on the Hamline Pipers this coming Wednesday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
