NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Bethel followed up its upset of conference-leading Gustavus with a solid 70-61 win over Carleton on the road tonight. Nate Robertson (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) led the way with 16 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double in his last three games.

The Royals and Knights each came out strong in the first half as both teams shot over 50 percent from the field. Up 37-34, the Royals nursed their three point lead entering halftime with the help of efficient shooting from three point land as they finished the half shooting three of six from downtown compared to the Knights one of seven.

The second half was a story about defense as the Royals clamped down and limited the Knights to just 27 percent shooting from the field while also forcing seven Knight turnovers. The Royals' strong defensive performance and timely scoring proved to be all they needed as they extended their lead to as many as 12 in the second half. Chris Vavra (Sr., Cambridge, Minn.) and Daniel Baah (So., Farmington, Minn.) led the way in the second half for the Royals as they scored 11 and nine respectively.

After tonight's win the Royals improve to 7-8 overall and 3-8 in MIAC play while Carleton falls an identical record at 7-8 overall and 3-8 in the MIAC. The Royals look to continue their winning streak and start the second half of the season this Wednesday, January 20 as they play host to the Saint John's Johnnies. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
