Keene State Box Score
CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bethel Royals held their own against some tough competition today, but still could not muster enough runs to overtake a pair of undefeated teams in Messiah and Keene State, falling 4-0 and 4-1, respectively.
Against Messiah,
Ashley Lindberg (Jr., Sartell, Minn.) had both of Bethel's hits, both of which were doubles, but was unable to come across home plate in the loss. Aside from Lindberg, Bethel earned four walks, but could not string things together to create a run.
Charitey Rowden (Jr., Shellsburg, Iowa) was the starting pitcher for the Royals and made it through four and one-third innings before running into some trouble.
In the game against Keene State, the first two and a half innings whizzed by before Bethel got on the scoreboard thanks to a bases loaded sacrifice fly by
Lisa Patnode (Jr., Princeton, Minn.). However, the Owls answered with two runs in the top of the fourth inning off of starter
Nea Harkness (Jr., Winthrop, Minn.) to take the lead for good.
The losses drop Bethel to 2-3 on their season, while Messiah improves to 10-0 and Keene State moves to 2-0. The Royals will try to snap their three-game skid tomorrow when they play three games, starting with the Philadelphia Biblical University at 1:30 p.m. at the National Training Center.
