BLAINE, Minn.
- Tonight's home-away-from-home loss will be tough to take for the Royals, who sought to take out another one of the top conference contenders.  The Carleton Knights, who came into tonight's game leading the MIAC, seemed determined to prevent the surging Royals from gaining any ground in the standings with a win in their match at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

Bethel fell behind early on a goal by Carleton's Tyler Bechtel five minutes into the game. Two goals later in the first half, and another in the second, tilted the score in Carleton's favor, despite the fact that the match seemed to be played close and physical all night, with six total yellow cards handed out between the teams.

The difference in the game turned out to be the ability to capitalize on opportunities.  The Royals managed to out-shoot Carleton by a margin of 18-14, but could not take advantage of their scoring chances.  Ross Hamilton took advantage of his opportunities tonight as he recorded two goals on five shots to lead the Knight offense.  Andreas Scott (Jr., Cedar, Minn.) led the Royal attack with five shots, followed by Michael Voigtlander (Jr., Vadnais Height, Minn.) who attempted two.

At the end of the night, the Royals drop to 7-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the MIAC, while the Knights improve to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the MIAC. The Royals will have some time to regroup after tonight's match before they play host to Augsburg College next Tuesday at Ona Orth Complex at 3:30 p.m.
