Box Score
WINONA, Minn. - The Bethel Royals have been playing some good basketball of late, and today's 70-58 win over the hosting Saint Mary's Cardinals gave them a perfect 3-0 week.
From the first basket until the time the final buzzer sounded, the Royals never trailed. Bethel led the game 30-21 at the half thanks to
Nate Robertson's (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) 11 points and
Tim Madson's (Sr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) 10 points.
Madson would go on to score 11 more points in the second half, giving him a game total of 21. He also pulled down eight second half rebounds for a total of 10 to give him his first double-double of the season and of his career. But for the second game in a row, it's been
Mike Moberg (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) supplying Bethel with the majority of its offensive firepower. Moberg was the game's leading scorer with 24 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Each of his free throws came in the second half and he now has 956 career points at Bethel.
Both teams shot 90 percent or better from the free throw line, but it was Bethel's ability to create points inside that helped them win. In addition to Moberg and Madson, Robertson finished with 15 points to make up 60 of Bethel's 70 points.
Lukas Holland was the leading scorer for Saint Mary's with 20 points, while Will Wright chipped in an additional 17 points to the Cardinal cause.
The win gives Bethel an impressive 8-1 record on the road this season as they come home for their next three games. The Royals are now 13-4 overall and 8-4 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals drop to 5-12 overall and 4-8 in the conference. Bethel will try to extend their winning streak to four games when they take on Macalester at home at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday in the Robertson Center gym for their next game.
