Bethel welcomes new head coach Steve Johnson. Coach Johnson comes to Bethel with an excellent background of coaching on both the high school and college levels. After earning a degree in physical education from Bethel in 1980, he became an assistant coach at St. Cloud State University. While at St. Cloud he received his M.S. in sports psychology. Steve then accepted the head coaching position at St. Cloud Cathedral where he coached for four years. In 1986 Steve became a graduate assistant at the University of Minnesota under John Gutekunst. It was an exciting year as the Gophers qualified to play in the Liberty Bowl. Before coming to Bethel he became an assistant coach at Montana State University in charge of wide receivers and tight ends. Steve and his wife Susan have three children, Cornell two, and twin sisters Kathlyn and Madelyn 4 months old.
