Royals Move to 2-0 Following Rout of Rams

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Bethel University men's soccer team's four second-half goals propelled them to a 4-0 victory over North Central (Minn.) at Ona Orth Complex on Thursday. 

The Royals are off to their first 2-0 start to a season since 2023, while the Rams fall to 0-2.

The Royals had the upper hand in shot by a 33-6 margin. This included a 23-3 domination in a second half that resulted in four goals courtesy of Tadeo Magana's first career tally in the 55th minute that gave the Royals a 1-0 lead, and Terry Espinoza's first collegiate goal in less than a minute later that widened the score to 2-0. Bethel sealed the 4-0 shutout behind James Oberholtzer, who netted his second goal of the season in the 87th minute, and assisted on Solomon Straub's tally, along with Nathan Hunt, in the 89th minute. 

Nathan Hunt finished with two assists for the Royals, while Roy Kyle had an assist and a team-leading seven shots. 

Griffin Blokker had two saves in net for Bethel, while Alex Gianikas finished with 10 stops between the pipes for North Central (Minn.).

The Royals will host UW-Eau Claire at Ona Orth Complex on Monday, September 7 at 4 p.m.
