MAPLE PLAINE, MINN.—The Bethel University men's golf team hosted the Minnesota Golf Classic at the Pioneer Creek Golf Course in Maple Plain, Minnesota on Sunday and Monday. The Royals won the team title with a three-round score of 862 (290-283-289, -2), a two-stroke advantage over second-place UW-Stout (864, E), and a 14-stroke lead over third-place Saint John's (876, +12). 

BU's 862 ranks second in program history, which only trails an 856 (285-282-291) achieved at the 2023 MIAC Championship on September 30 - October 2, 2023. The Royals' 283 in round two, which was achieved on four other occasions, is tied for sixth in school history, 

Jackson Byrd (University of Georgia) won the individual crown with a 206 (-10). 

Freshmen duo Sander Ohe and Tyler Hoppe continued to dominate for the Royals. Ohe finished tied for 15th place with a 214 (71-72-71, -2), which also tied the lead among MIAC golfers with William Andrus (Saint John's) (74-69-71, -2). Hoppe was the next Royals finisher, as he tied for 18th place with a 215 (71-70-74, -1). Zeke Roberts carded a 219 (76-72-71, +3), which put him in a tie for 31st place. Jesse Balc tied for 36th place with a 220 (72-75-73, +4), while Carson Hannestad rounded out the Bethel lineup with a 222 (76-69-77, +6), good enough for a tie in 43rd place.

The Bethel "B" Team clocked in a 10th-place score of 908 (307-304-297, +44). Avery Ross (75-71-74) and Charlie Solberg (73-74-73) each carded a three-day score of 220 (+4), which put them in a tie for 36th place. Ben Mertz notched a 228 (76-79-73, +12), followed by Parker Trobec's 240 (83-80-77, +24). Adam Wagner rounded out the Bethel "B" Team with a 241 (83-80-78, +25).

The Royals will compete at the Saint John's Invitational on Saturday, September 26 - Sunday, September 27 at the St. Cloud Country Club, and Monticello Country Club.
