ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Bethel University softball team swept St. Scholastica (DH) by scores of 12-1 (5 innings) and 7-0 at Ona Orth Complex on Tuesday.
The Royals improve to 12-20, 7-7 MIAC, while the Saints fall to 7-20, 1-10 MIAC.
Bethel 12, St. Scholastica 1 (5 Innings) (Game One)
St. Scholastica was held to just four hits. Royals starting pitcher Mary Hajduk allowed four hits, one run, and had two strikeouts over 4.0 innings of work before Abby Otterness notched two strikeouts over 1.0 inning in relief.Â
Otterness also engineered the Bethel offense with a 2-for-2 performance that included one double, one run scored, one RBI, one stolen base, and one walk. Going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run scored was Julia Helget. A perfect 1-for-1 outing with one double, two runs scored, two RBI, one stolen base, and one walk was in store for Greta Stanek. Also turning a perfect outing was Sidney Bartels, who was 2-for-2 with one double, two runs scored, and two RBI.
Ally Breidenbach paced St. Scholastica at the plate with a 2-for-2 performance.
Bethel 7, St. Scholastica 0 (Game Two)
Bethel also registered 12 hits in game two, while their pitching staff held St. Scholastica to just three.
Brianna Tix allowed just two hits, no runs, and had five strikeouts over 6.0 innings of work in the circle. Dominique Walicke allowed just one hit and notched two strikeouts over 1.0 inning in pitching relief.
Abby Otterness finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the sixth inning, two runs scored, one RBI, and one walk. Sidney Bartels' 2-for-3 outing consisted of a solo home run in the third inning, two runs scored, and one RBI. Going 2-for-3 with one double was Lucie Voigt.Â
Camryn Thurow's 1-for-4 performance included a two-run double in the first inning. Also hitting doubles were Hannah Bock and Abigail Sanderson.
The Royals will travel to Concordia (Minn.) (DH) on Saturday, April 25 for a 1 p.m. start.
