ROGERS, MINN.—The Bethel University men's tennis team got through Concordia (Minn.) by a 4-3 margin at the Rogers Tennis Club on Saturday.

The Royals improve to 17-2, 5-2 MIAC, while the Cobbers fall to 9-8, 3-6 MIAC.

Bethel got rolling with 6-4 victory from Micah Gustafson/Zach Bengtson at No. 3 doubles before Dylan Magistad/Carter Sheard dropped a 6-3 score at No. 1. Zack Chaffey/Watson Sheard clinched the doubles point for Bethel with a 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 2.

Gustafson set the tone at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, followed by a 6-3, 6-0 decision from Kade Bishop at No. 5. Bethel widened their lead to 4-0 thanks to Zack Chaffey's 7-5, 6-1 triumph at No. 4 singles before the Cobbers narrowed their deficit to 4-3 with victories at the top three singles matches. That included nail-biting losses from Watson Sheard 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 at No. 3, and Carter Sheard 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 1.

Bethel will travel to St. Olaf on Wednesday, April 22 for a 4 p.m. match.
