ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Bethel University baseball team's three unanswered runs secured them a 3-2 victory over Northwestern (Minn.) in a non-conference game at Hargis Park on Friday.
The Royals improve to 22-6, while the Eagles fall to 13-15.

The first inning saw Northwestern in front 2-0 off Ben Hixon's sacrifice fly that scored Kason Pietruszewski, and a Bethel throwing error from the outfield that also sent home Jack Burns from second base.
Drew Girtz carried the Royals on his shoulders with his bat and pitching arm. His two-run single in the fifth inning knocked in Ben Trucke and Tyler Allshouse, which tied the game 2-2.Â
Oran Hinkle, who led off the sixth inning with a single, later scored off Seth Nelson's sacrifice fly that gave the Royals a 3-2 lead.
Bethel had eight hits. Girtz finished 2-for-4 with one double and two RBI at the dish. He was credited the save on the pitching mound, where he surrendered just one hit and notched seven strikeouts over the final 3.0 innings. Jackson Hunter allowed just four hits and had five strikeouts throughout the first 5.0 innings. Cavan Banks, who was credited with the win, allowed just one hit and notched one strikeout in the sixth inning.
Tyler Allshouse rounded out the multi-hit Royals with a 2-for-3 performance, and one run scored.Â
Starting pitcher Dreyer Homan carried the Eagles on his shoulders. Homan allowed eight hits, three runs, and notched six strikeouts over 7.0 innings before Caleb Hautajarvi tossed the final frame.
The Royals will host St. Scholastica (DH) at Hargis Park on Tuesday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m.
