ORLANDO, FLA.—The Bethel University baseball team dropped a 6-5 (12 innings) decision to Rowan in Orlando, Florida on Saturday afternoon.
The Royals fall to 3-2, while the Profs improve to 5-1.
Rowan 6, Bethel 5 (12 innings)
Brayden Davis, who led off the 12th inning with a triple before he scored the game-winning run on a passed ball, led Rowan with a 2-for-4 outing at the plate. That also included a two-run home run in the eighth inning, two runs scored, three RBI, and two walks. Davis engineered a Rowan offense that accumulated 10 hits against Bethel's nine.
Oran Hinkle had a lot to do with that as he led the Royals with a 3-for-5 performance that produced one RBI. Hayden Bradford rounded out the multi-hit Royals with a 2-for-5 day that included one double as well as two runs scored. Ben Trucke and Carson Christiansen also contributed doubles for the Royals.
Another key hit for Bethel was Sam Abbas's two-run single that scored Hinkle and Bradford in the ninth inning, which knotted the game 5-5.
Drew Girtz surrendered seven hits, two runs, one walk, and had four strikeouts over 6.0 innings of work for Bethel. Mark Anderson threw the next 2.2 innings, where he accumulated four strikeouts and allowed two hits, three runs, and two walks. Jacob Tobritzhofer, Tanner Nordrum, and Cavan Banks also saw pitching time. Banks allowed just one run, which happened to be the game winner, and had two strikeouts over the 10th-12th innings.
