Royals Complete Weekend Sweep with 4-0 Win

BLAINE, Minn. – Bethel Women's Hockey wrapped up a dominating weekend at the National Sports Center with a 4‑0 victory over Concordia College‑Moorhead, completing a clean sweep of the series. The Royals carried the momentum from Friday's opener into Saturday's matchup, controlling play from the opening faceoff and showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive discipline.

The first period saw Bethel peppering the Concordia net with scoring chances but was met with strong goaltending from the Cobbers. It wasn't until the second period that Bethel broke through. Freshman Amelia McQuay opened the scoring with a short-handed, unassisted goal at 7:35, capitalizing on a fast break and giving the Royals the early lead. Just 56 seconds later, graduate student Kallie Tibbetts (Abrahamson) struck on the power play, using a quick shot fed by Afton Hulke and Siri Olson to double Bethel's advantage and put Concordia on its heels.

The Royals continued to dictate the pace in the third period. Tibbetts (Abrahamson) added her second goal of the game with a precise finish in front of the net, extending Bethel's lead and demonstrating the depth of scoring across the lineup. Senior Maddi O'Connor finished the scoring with an empty-net goal in the final minute, sealing the 4‑0 result and capping a complete team effort.

Between the pipes, senior Ashley Gustafson (Hess) was impeccable, making 26 saves to earn her third shutout of the season. Her calm, composed play gave Bethel confidence and allowed the team to focus on aggressive forechecking and disciplined defensive coverage.

Bethel's weekend sweep was a product of balanced play, special teams execution, and depth across the roster. Every line contributed, and the Royals' commitment to a fast, smart, and team-oriented style of hockey was evident in every shift. With MIAC playoffs on the horizon, Bethe earned an important six points this weekend putting them in the contending for a run in playoffs. Up next on the Bethel schedule is their final regaular season series against  St. Olaf College –  home on Friday at 7 p.m. and away on Saturday at 4 p.m..
