NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team fell on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a 4-0 MIAC matchup against Carleton College at Bell Field.
The Royals kept the Knights off the scoreboard through the opening 32 minutes before Carleton broke through on an own goal in the 33rd minute to take a 1-0 advantage.
Carleton added its second goal in the 42nd minute, sending Bethel into halftime facing a 2-0 deficit.
The Knights extended their advantage early in the second half, scoring in the 49th and 55th minutes. Bethel kept Carleton off the scoreboard for the remaining 35 minutes but was unable to cut into the deficit.
The Royals generated four shots on the afternoon, including one on goal, while Carleton finished with 19 shots and eight on target. Bethel's goalkeeper made five saves in the match.
The setback moves Bethel to 2-6-1 overall and 1-3-1 in MIAC play.
