Kvant's First-Half Goal Lifts Royals Past Hamline, 1-0

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team earned a 1-0 shutout victory over Hamline University Saturday afternoon at Paterson Field, using a first-half goal from Hannah Kvant and a strong defensive effort to secure its third MIAC win of the season.

The Royals broke through in the 32nd minute when Kvant found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season, giving Bethel a 1-0 advantage.

Bethel controlled the offensive opportunities in the opening half, recording seven shots and putting three on goal. The Royals also earned three corner kicks while holding Hamline to six first-half shots.

Carrying a one-goal lead into halftime, Bethel continued to apply pressure after the break. The Royals generated six additional shots, including three on goal, as they looked to extend their advantage.

Defensively, Bethel held strong throughout the second half, limiting Hamline to just four shots and preventing the Pipers from putting an attempt on frame over the final 45 minutes.

Goalkeeper Abby Wright recorded one save in the opening half, helping the Royals secure the shutout victory.

Bethel finished with a 13-10 advantage in total shots, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal. The Royals also earned five corner kicks, while Hamline finished with 10.

The victory improves Bethel to 4-6-2 overall and 3-3-2 in MIAC play, giving the Royals their second win in their last three matches.
