Royals Come Up Big at Saint Benedict/Saint John's Invite

COLLEGEVILLE, MINN.—The Bethel University women's track & field team registered a first-place score of 132 at the College of Saint Benedict / Saint John's Invite in Collegeville, Minnesota on Friday.

The Royals accumulated 17 career bests in the meet.

Anna Speratos won the weight throw with a 17.25m, which puts her seventh in NCAA Division III.

The top three spots of the 60 meter dash prelims belonged to Ella Paulson (Career Best 8.02), Autumn Maki (Career Best 8.06), and Raina Kaping (8.07). The finals resulted in a second-place time of 8.04 from Kaping, and a career-best 8.05 from Maki, which put her in third place. 

The 60 meter hurdle prelims saw Michaela Zenz take second place with a career best 9.17, followed by Brianna Hexum's 9.56 that put her in third place. Zenz followed with a second-place mark of 9.405 in the finals, while Hexum's career best 9.407 resulted in a third-place finish. 

The career bests continued for Kaping in the 200 meter run, where she notched second place with a 26.91. Alethia Olson-Skog was on Kaping's heels with a third-place time of 27.02. Shalom Sulungaine took home the 400 meter run crown with a 58.59, while Adyson Gerbig took third with a 1:01.40. The titles continued to roll in the 600 meter run courtesy of Madi Pelowski's 1:40.15. Emerson Mullen won the 1 mile run with a 5:25.46.

The 3000 meter run saw Anna Hay claim the title with a career best 10:50.89, while Ava Nibbelink followed in third with a 11:05.02. Second place was in the cards for Jordan Stanislowski, who notched a 5.16m in the long jump. Elly Stamp's 3.08m in the pole vault put her in third place.

The shot put saw Nora Larsen with the top mark of 12.59m, while Jada Henrikson followed in third with a 10.54m. The third-place trend continued in the triple jump thanks to Julia Pankratz's 9.93m.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Ashley Slaybaugh, Hexum, Hannah Bingham, and Gerbig registered a first-place time of 4:05.84.

The Royals will return to action at the UW-River Falls Winter Classic on Saturday, February 7.
