Royals Battle but Fall 1–3 to #3 Augsburg

BLAINE, Minn. –  The Bethel University women's hockey team battled hard but came up short in a 1–3 loss to Augsburg University Friday evening at the National Sports Center Super Rink.

After a scoreless first period, the Auggies struck first in the second, opening the scoring at 5:34. Bethel responded just over three minutes later when senior forward Beth Vincent (Velasco) collected a feed from junior defenseman Trinity Jackson to knot the game at 1–1. Augsburg regained the lead before the period ended after scoring at 11:44. In the third period, the Auggies added an insurance goal, sealing the 1–3 final.

Bethel fired multiple chances on net throughout the contest but could not find the equalizer in the final frame. Augsburg held the edge on special teams and maintained pressure in the offensive zone. Bethel goaltending faced a steady barrage, with the defense working hard to limit high-danger chances.

The Royals will finish up a two-game MIAC series against the Auggies tomorrow afternoon at 4pm at the Ed Saugastad Ice Arena in Minneapolis.
