ST. PAUL, Minn. – A fast start and strong all-around performance helped Bethel University men's soccer earn a 3-0 win over North Central on Wednesday afternoon. The Royals improve to 2-0-1 on the season.
Bethel opened the scoring just 12 seconds into the match when Carter Sheard found the net. Less than two minutes later, Sheard struck again—assisted by Ryan Swanda and Nathan Hunt—to make it 2-0.
The Royals created several more chances in the first half, forcing multiple saves and earning six corners. North Central tested Bethel goalkeeper Brett Rexine a few times late in the half, but he came up with key saves to preserve the clean sheet.
In the second half, Bethel continued to control possession. Jordan Ross added the third goal in the 65th minute following sustained pressure and a corner. Rexine finished the match with five saves, and the back line held firm to secure the shutout.
