The Bethel volleyball team opened its 2025 season this weekend at the Northwestern–St. Paul tournament, finishing with a 1–2 record. The Royals dropped their first match to host Northwestern, bounced back with a win over UW–River Falls, and closed the weekend with a loss to Coe College.
Saturday Match 1: Bethel def. UW–River Falls, 3–1
Bethel found its rhythm in the first match on Saturday, taking down UW–River Falls in four sets.
Saturday Match 2: Coe def. Bethel, 3–0
In their tournament finale, the Royals couldn't keep the momentum going and dropped their second match of the day to Coe in straight sets.

Penke continued her strong play with 10 kills and 10 digs.

Cosette Carto added 8 kills and 2 blocks, and Howie contributed 5 kills.

Rubio had 26 assists and an ace, while Therrien (11 digs) and Hetfeld (9 digs) anchored the back row.

Bethel returns to action on Friday, September 5 at 5:00 PM, facing North Park University in the opening match of a three-game tournament at UW–River Falls. The Royals will look to build on early-season lessons and return to the win column.
