The Bethel University women's tennis team delivered a statement performance in the MIAC Quarterfinals, sweeping St. Scholastica 4-0 at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex. With the win, the Royals (14-5) move on to face Carleton in the MIAC Semifinals this
Friday at 3:30 p.m. in Northfield.
Bethel quickly set the tone in doubles, with
Julia Baber and
Emma Thole earning a 6-1 victory at No. 2, followed by
Payton Douglas and Courtney DeWall matching that score at No. 3.
Lauryn Douglas and
Michaella Sullivan were leading 4-3 at No. 1 doubles before the match was halted due to the clinch format.
The Royals continued their dominant form in singles.
Claire Keller rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3,
Julia Baber stayed sharp with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4, and Courtney DeWall closed out the match at No. 6 singles with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win. Three singles matches were left unfinished, all with Bethel in control.
Bethel now turns its focus to Carleton, as they look to secure a spot in the MIAC Championship match.
