Arden Hills, Minn. – April 15, 2025 — Bethel University men's tennis picked up a 6-3 win over Hamline on Tuesday afternoon at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex, continuing its stellar run through MIAC play. With the victory, the Royals improved to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in the conference—clinching a top-three seed in the MIAC Playoffs with two regular season matches still to play.
With their current position in the standings, the Royals are on track for their best MIAC finish
since 2009, while their 13 overall wins mark the program's highest single-season total since 2017.
The men got off to a strong start in doubles today. Carter and
Watson Sheard took care of business at No. 1 with an 8-5 win, and
Dylan Magistad and Zack
Chaffey mirrored that with an 8-5 victory at No. 2. Hamline earned the point at No. 3, but the Royals headed into singles up 2-1.
In singles play, Bethel secured four more wins.
Carter Sheard came from behind to win a three-set battle at No. 1, taking the super tiebreak 10-6. Magistad rolled at No. 2 (6-2, 6-1),
Watson Sheard added a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4, and
Zach Bengtson closed it out with a straight-set win at No. 6 (6-4, 6-2).
The Royals will look to finish strong with two MIAC matches remaining. Up next, Bethel hosts Macalester on Friday, April 25 at 4:00 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
