Spring break trips are in full swing for Bethel's spring sports. The softball team opened up their trip out west to California with a split of the University of La Verne while baseball defeated Marian to snap a three-game losing skid. Check out the quick recaps from Sunday's action.

SOFTBALL: G1 • Bethel 5, La Verne 1
Autumn Earney kicked off the trip with a solo homer to left-center in her very first at bat. Bethel then added a pair in the second thanks to an error from La Verne.

Dominique Walicke improved to 3-0 on the year, tossing a one-run complete game effort. She struck out six while giving up three hits.

SOFTBALL: G2 • La Verne 10, Bethel 1 (6 innings)
Bethel's bats were kept at bay managing just two hits in game two of the doubleheader.
Olivia Weinberg drove in the Royals' only run with a single through the left side in the fourth that cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Leopards went up 2-0 in the third before putting up a five spot in the fourth. They added one in the fifth and two in the sixth for the run-rule victory. Â

BASEBALL: Bethel 8, Marian 0
A day after being shutout by Aurora, 7-0, the Royals picked up their first shutout win of the season. That came large in part to a six-run second inning that was capped out by a two-run home run off the bat of
Oran Hinkle.

Before that,
Matt Friesen doubled to center scoring one and
Nolan Jurgenson followed that up with a two-RBI double that ran down the right field line.

Isaac Call went 2-for-5 as the cleanup hitter driving in Hinkle in the fourth.
Xavier Lortie also went 2-for-4 and drove in a run in the fourth with a sacrifice fly to left.

Jackson Hunter got his first win of the year tossing seven shutout innings while striking out four.
Jordan Axberg tossed the final two frames out of the pen for the combined shutout.
