ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—Senior guard/forward Alli Born was named December 15 MIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman forward Amelia McQuay earned December 15 MIAC Women's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.
December 15 MIAC Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week
Offensive: Maya Metcalf (Concordia)
Defensive: Alli Born (Bethel)
Born accumulated seven steals, 16 total rebounds, and one block in a week that included home victories over Augsburg 84-44 on December 10, and UW-River Falls 73-67 on December 13. The Rogers, Minnesota native had a double double 12 points, 10 rebounds, as well as two steals against UW-River Falls. She had 12 points, five steals, three assists, and six boards in the Royals' home opener over Augsburg.
The Royals will return to action in Wisconsin Dells on Friday, December 19 against UW-La Crosse at 6 p.m.
December 15 MIAC Women's Hockey Athletes of the Week
Offensive: Amelia McQuay (Bethel)
Defensive: Marissa Paaske (Augsburg)
McQuay's hat trick in a 5-3 victory over Marian on December 12 included her first collegiate goal. The Oak Grove, Minnesota native registered three shots on goal for a perfect 1.000 shots on goal percentage in the game.
McQuay and the Royals will return to action on Saturday, January 3 against UW-Eau Claire at National Sports Center. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m.
