BLAINE, Minn. — The Bethel University women's hockey team turned in a dominant all-around effort on Saturday afternoon, skating to a commanding 9–0 victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders.
The Royals wasted no time setting the tone, scoring just 19 seconds into the contest when Sophie Martin buried a feed from Rylen Kissell and Olivia Martin. Bethel continued to dictate play throughout the first period, keeping the puck deep in the Raiders' zone and peppering the MSOE goaltenders with shots. Martin struck again midway through the period on the power play to make it 2–0, and the floodgates opened from there. Brayley VanDenBerg, Trinity Jackson, and Myla Lubken each added goals before the intermission, giving Bethel a commanding 5–0 advantage after 20 minutes.
The second period brought more of the same, as Bethel took full advantage of a five-minute major penalty assessed to the Raiders. Siri Olson scored early on the power play, followed quickly by a goal from Kallie Tibbetts (Abrahamson) to push the lead to 7–0. Later in the frame, Beth Vincent (Velasco) found the back of the net on a setup from Olson and Afton Hulke, extending Bethel's cushion to eight heading into the final period.
In the third, the Royals continued to roll. Martin completed her hat trick at the 9:35 mark, capping a five-point outing for the freshman forward, who now leads the Royals in both goals and points for the season.
Defensively, Bethel was sharp and composed from start to finish. Goaltender Lexi Holman stopped all 13 shots she faced to earn the shutout, backed by a defensive unit that allowed few clean looks from the Raiders. The Royals outshot MSOE 45–13 and dominated the faceoff circle, winning 37 of 57 draws.
With the win, Bethel improves to 2–0 to open the 2025–26 season, outscoring opponents 15–1 through its first two games. The Royals return to the ice Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., when they open MIAC play at home against St. Catherine University.
