Women’s Hockey Sweeps Nichols in Shutout Fashion

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team completed a non-conference sweep of Nichols Saturday afternoon blanking the Bison for the second straight game, 7-0.
 
Seven different Royals found the scoring column as Bethel did most of its damage in the first 20 minutes lighting up the lamp four separate times. BU outshot Nichols 45-10 for the game.
 
Brynn Swenson started out the scoring 5:58 into the game. Between the 11:05 and 15:54 mark, the Royals tallied three more goals highlighted by Siri Olson's first collegiate goal.
 
Myla Lubken had BU's lone second-period score as her first collegiate goal came just 16 seconds before the break.
 
Allison Hoerer scored with under eight minutes left in the game while Beth Velasco tallied BU's lone power play goal late in the third.
 
Ashley Gustafson (Hess) collected 10 saves in net.
 
UP NEXT
The Royals are 8-4-1 at the midway point of the year and start a stretch of 12 conference games to close the season next Friday, Jan. 17 at Augsburg. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
