MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Bethel Royals qualified two relays and three individuals for Saturday's finals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The men's 4x100m relay earned an automatic qualifying spot in the finals by winning their heat. The team of Landen Liu, Grant Nelson, Cameron McConnell, and Jacob Parent ran a program and MIAC all-time record of 40.25 seconds - which stands as the 9th best in Division III history.
Joel Smith ran away from his heat of the 400m hurdles, to win and get an automatic qualifying spot in Saturday's final. Smith eased up in the final 40m to win in 52.20 seconds.Â
Kelsie Sealock ran a personal best time by more than a second in the 400m hurdles to earn a time qualifier for the finals on Saturday. Sealock took 2nd in her heat with her program record time of 60.81 seconds.
Jacob Parent shot out of the blocks in the 200m dash on his way to winning the final heat in a time of 20.85 seconds. Parent will run in Saturday's final as the #2 seed.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Sealock, Abbie Swenson, Annessa Ihde, and Shalom Sulungaine finished their season as the 14th best team in Division III. The quartet ran a time of 3:52.18.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Grant Nelson, Josh Sampson, Joel Smith, and Jacob Parent won their heat and will go into Saturday's final as the top seeded team. The quartet ran a time of 3:10.15.
On Friday, Kelsie Sealock will run the prelims of the 100H, Jayson Ekiyor, Josh Sampson, and Josh Thomsen run the prelims of the 110H, Landen Liu will run the prelims of the 100m dash, and Annessa Ihde will run in the prelims of the 800m.
