ST.PETER, Minn —
John Solfest followed his nine inning no-hit performance against St.Johns by tossing a four hit complete shutout in the second game of Tuesday night's doubleheader against the Gusties. Solfest went the distance striking out six, walking two and earning his third win of the year in the process.
The Royals grabbed a 7-2 lead in game one, before surrendering 10 runs in the bottom of third and falling by a final score of 15-11.
Bethel grabbed an early lead in game two scoring three in the first, tacking on four in the eighth to win by a final score of 7-0.
Game one Bethel 11, Gustavus 15:
Xavier Lortie drove in the game's first runs with a two RBI double to the left center field gap, scoring Carson Christansen and
Nolan Jurgenson, giving Bethel a 2-0 advantage.
In the second a
Matthew Carlsen double down the left field line plated
Quentin Platt from second putting the Royals back in front 3-2. A
Jordan Krupke single to left brought home Carlsen giving Bethel a 5-2 lead.
Zach Thompson scored on a passed ball for the Royals sixth run of the game in the third and
Matthew Carlsen drove in another run with a single to left opening a 7-2 advantage.
The Gusties scored ten in the bottom of the third however, giving the Gusties a 12-7 lead. Falling by a 15-11 final score in game one.
Game two Bethel 7, Gustavus 0:
Matthew Carlsen provided an early jolt leading off the game with a solo shot deep over the right center field fence, his fourth homer of the season and second in three games.
Later in the first
Zach Thompson drilled a ball deep to the right center gap one hopping the wall and hustling into third for a two RBI triple, extending the Royal lead to 3-0.
The three run lead was plenty for
John Solfest who went the distance throwing a four hit complete game shutout, striking out six and walking two.
The Royals added on in the eighth, starting with a
Noah Wenberg RBI single up the middle followed by a
Matthew Carlsen two RBI double to the right center gap and a
Jordan Krupke single to left to make the score 7-0.
