ROGERS, Minn. – The Bethel men's tennis team took a tough 7-2 loss against Saint John's Saturday evening despite battling in seven different tiebreaker matches.

The Royals found themselves down early dropping all three doubles matches, two which went into a tiebreak. Five of the six singles matches headed to a third set super tiebreaker but BU could only come out on top of two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Thrid doubles team
Zack Chaffey and
Brett Eliason found themselves down 1-5 in the tiebreak. They won the next two points, giving the boys a ray of hope, but a point penalty was issued on the Royals, bringing them down 3-6. They then fought of two set points before ultimately falling 7-8 (5-7).
• Freshman
Carter Sheard scored one of two points for the Royals at 1st singles. He took a close first set 6-4, but then fell 4-6 in the second. He took a 8-4 lead in the tie break before losing the next three points, but then he took back control and winning the match 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
• No. 5 singles player
Watson Sheard also found himself in a defining third set. After laboring hard to take the first set, he was down 1-4 early in the second and was never able to make up the difference. He then fell early again in the third set tie break 2-7. However, he fought back, winning five consecutive points to tie it up and ultimately winning 6-4, 2-6, 12-10.
