Royals Battle to Pair of Key Conference Wins

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Bethel women's tennis had a jam-packed weekend, opening up with a 6-3 win over Macalester on Friday. They followed it up Saturday afternoon at Rogers Tennis Center with a big 6-3 conference win over Saint Benedict.

The wins move Bethel to a 16-1 on the year and 6-1 in MIAC play where they sit second in the standings.

Against Macalester in a match that lasted nearly three hours she battled her way back in her opening set from down 2-5 forcing a tiebreaker. In that tiebreaker she held off five set points before scoring seven consecutive to win the set 7-6 (8-6). She'd hold off a comeback effort by her opponent winning it 7-5. On Saturday she pulled out the first set 6-4 before falling the second set by an identical score. In the third set tiebreaker she pulled it out 10-8 after multiple lead changes, clinching the match-winning team point.

In the decisive set, Baber managed to hold on to her 6-2 lead, only giving up two points before winning it 7-4. In the third set tie breaker, she lost an early 3-1 lead, but was able to stay in the fight and ultimately take the match 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8
