CLERMONT, Fla.  – The No. 8th-ranked Bethel University softball team picked up a pair of wins Wednesday in the Sunshine State improving to 10-2 on the year. The Royals opened up the day with a 13-6 slugfest win over Wilmington before defeating Kean 6-2.

Autumn Earney had herself a day in the leadoff spot going a combined 6-for-10 with three runs and four RBIs. While
Mandalyn Franks went 5-for-7 with three runs and three RBIs.

Game 1: #8 Bethel 13, Wilmington 6.
• The Quakers took a 6-0 lead on starter
Mary Hajduk and the Royals through their first three at bats.
• BU had a quick response plating eight runs on three hits in the bottom of the third as they took the lead for good.

Mikaela Girard notched her third RBI of the game driving in
Sidney Bartels in the fourth making It 9-6.

Kayley Frenette and
Kayla Simacek combined to keep Wilmington off the board for the final four innings with Frenette picking up the win.
•
Abby Otterness' sacrifice fly in the fifth notched another run before the Royals plated three in the sixth with Otterness driving in the game's final run on a single through the left side.

Game 2: #8 Bethel 6, Kean 2
• The Royals baserunning took advantage of an early Kean error. With runners at first and second, Otterness single to center drove in one before the ball got pass the centerfield bringing in another and moving Otterness into scoring position. She would score two batters later on a bunt single from Sydney Bartels making it 3-0.
• Kean got a pair of unearned runs on
Kayla Simacek in the bottom of the third pulling within one on the Royals.
• BU got those two runs back in the fifth with a two-RBI single up the middle off the bat of
Kayla Hokanson.
• Earney added a run in the sixth with a two-out rope up the middle scoring pinch runner
Maddi O'Connor
• The Cougars would only get two hits in their final four at bats including a one-double in the seventh. Simacek closed it out with a looking strikeout and a groundout to third.
• Having surpassed the 1,000-career strikeout mark on Monday, Simacek added four Ks bringing her total to 1,010
