BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel women's hockey team picked up a 4-0 shutout victory over St. Scholastica Saturday evening, earning a weekend sweep of the Saints.
The Royal victory brings their MIAC record to 6-7-1 and 12-8-1 overall as they enter the final two weekends of regular season play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• After coming to a narrow overtime victory last night, the Royals got an early lead over the Saints nearly nine minutes into the first period when
Megan Johnson's shot ricocheted off of the goaltender's pads and landed before
Kallie Abrahamson, who buried the puck in the back of the net for the first goal.

Sydney Eckert built on the Royals' lead at 9:02 on a power-play opportunity in the second period, slinging a shot from the right point to the upper left-handed corner of the Saints' net.

Malia McKinnon followed up with a goal of her own at 13:53 when she jammed the puck across the goal line in a scuffle in front of the Saints net, giving the Royals a 3-0 lead heading into the third period.

Emily Wiltse added the fourth and final Royal goal just four minutes into the period with a long shot into the upper left-handed corner of the goal.

Anna Hanson shut down the Royals' net with 19 saves to secure a shutout and a 4-0 victory.

The Royals return to their home ice next Friday, Feb. 9, for another matchup against the St. Catherine University Wildcats. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
