Men’s Tennis Prove to be Strong With Wins over Pointers and Cobbers

ROGERS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's tennis team brought its three-match losing streak to an end, defeating Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Concordia over the weekend by identical 8-1 scores.

Against UWSP… "Fun to play a men's team we had never played before. Lots of good tennis played."
 
Against Concordia… "Good day of tennis for the boys. We've had a nice start with our conference matches and are excited to potentially be playing outside soon!"
 
HOW IT HAPPENED vs UWSP
• Freshman Carter Sheard didn't drop a single game at No. 2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0
• Junior Brett Eliason played three close sets, dropping the first 5-7, but taking the next two 6-4, 10-7
• The No. 2 doubles team of Zack Chaffey and Watson sheard found themselves down three break points at 4-7, but they fought back to bring the match to a tiebreak, ultimately winning 8-7 (7-5)
• The No. 1 doubles team Gavin Hutter and Dylan Magistad exchanged breaks all match, bringing the score to 7-7, but took complete control in the tiebreak winning it 7-2

HOW IT HAPPENED vs CONCORDIA
• Freshman Watson Sheard only dropped one game at No. 5 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1
• No. 1 singles player Gavin Hutter and No. 6 singles player Robert Seaton dominated their matches, both winning 6-1, 6-1
• Sophomore Dylan Magistad won his first No. 3 singles set with ease, but fell to a resilient Cobber in the second. He then trailed 4-7 in the final tie break before closing it out 10-8, winning the last three points consecutively.
