ST. PAUL, Minn. – After forfeiting two goals early in the game, the Bethel women's hockey team fell to the Hamline Pipers, 3-1 Friday evening on the road. Despite the loss, the Royals earned the No. 5 seed in the MIAC Playoffs following a St. Scholastica loss to Augsburg.
The Royals moved to a MIAC record of 8-8-1 and 14-9-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Royals suffered an early disadvantage when the Pipers nabbed two goals in the first period, the first at 2:25 and the second at 12:54. HU also severely outshot BU, 15-2.
• Bethel took things up a notch in the second period, managing to even out the shots on goal to 11-6, Pipers, but were unable to find a goal while also gaining its only power play of the night.
• Hamline widened their lead in the third period at 14:50. The Royals'
Alison Hoerer kept the team from a shutout with a goal at 15:30, assisted by
Trinity Jackson and
Sydney Eckert.

The Royals will head home to the Blaine Super Rink for their second matchup against the Pipers tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 17, with a 6 p.m. puck drop.
