DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Bethel University women's basketball team closed out a trip to the Sunshine State with an 84-42 loss to undefeated and No. 4th-ranked Scranton Sunday afternoon. The Royals were held to a season-low 32.6 shooting percentage as they saw their five-game winning streak snap. BU falls to 7-2 on the year.
Macy Littlefield and
Emily Erickson both finished with a team-high 13 points each.
Trailing 5-2 early, Bethel gave up a 20-0 run to Scranton (10-0) and could never recover. Littlefield broke the almost seven-minute scoring drought as the Royals trailed 28-4 after one quarter.
Trailing 51-17 at the half, BU held the Lady Royals of Scranton to a layup and a pair of free throws in the opening three minutes of the second half. Scranton then closed the quarter on a 15-2 run.
Erickson and Littlefield combined for 13 points in the fourth where BU outscored the opposition 18-14.
The Royals conclude non-conference play and the 2024 portion of its schedule hosting Wisconsin-Stout on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
