EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Caden Boettcher dropped 20 points including a three pointer to pull the Royals to within three late in the second half. It wasn't enough however, as Bethel fell to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 73-69 on the road Saturday afternoon.

Boettcher 6-for-8 from the field including 5-for-7 from three. As a team the Royals shot 45.5% for the game, including 38.9% from beyond-the-arc.

Down 19-13 midway through the first half,
Payton Thomsen knocked down a three-pointer to make it a one possession game. Thomsen came up with another three-ball to give the Royals a 22-21 lead.Â

Caden Boettcher knocked down a pair of threes to give the Royals a 33-32 advantage heading into halftime.

Early in the second half
Adam Mattes drove the lane finding the basket giving Bethel a slim 40-39 lead.

Down by 10 with six minutes to play, Bethel put together a 16-5 run with
Payton Thomsen hitting a three pointer to tie it at 69. The Blugolds scored the games final four points however taking the game 73-69.

The Royals are now 3-2 on the year as they close out their three-game road trip next Saturday, Nov. 30, in Ashland, Wis., against Northland College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
