BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel women's hockey team fell to the St. Catherine University Wildcats, 3-0, in the second game of their weekend series. The loss brings the Royals to a record of 1-1-0 in the MIAC and 2-1-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Royals and Wildcats skated to a 0-0 tie in the first period, with the Wildcats just barely edging out the Royals in shots, 10-7.
• Fighting to avenge last night's loss, the Wildcats broke onto the scoreboard in the eighteenth minute of the second period after a breakaway led to a 1 v. 1 with BU goaltender
Anna Hanson. The Royals headed into the third period down by one.
• The third period saw the Wildcats build on the lead they'd established in the second period, dominating the Royals in shots and adding two more goals at 7:28 and 8:18, the final goal an empty-netter after the Royals opted to pull Hanson. The additional skater couldn't give BU the advantage they needed to break onto the scoreboard, and they conceded a shutout to the Wildcats.
UP NEXT
The Royals will return to their home ice next weekend for another MIAC matchup against Hamline University – a team they faced off against in an exhibition game back in October. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22.
