The Bethel women's soccer team dropped a matchup with the Gustavus Adolphus College Gusties after three unanswered goals nullified their initial lead. The 3-1 loss moves the Royals to a record of 2-5-3 in the MIAC and 6-6-4 overall.
How It Happened:
- The Royals hammered the Gusties in the opening minutes, posting nine shots in the first half and placing heavy pressure on the GAC defense and goalkeeper. A sideline run and neat layoff from Malia Beilby put the ball at the feet of Jess Oliver, who knocked it into the Gustie net for the first goal of the game at 17:06.
- But the Gusties answered back with just four minutes left in the first half, managing to find a chink in the solid armor of the Royals' defense and tying the game 1-1 heading into halftime.
- Though the Royals still outshot the Gusties, 8-6, in the second half, GAC came out ahead, scoring at 69:11 and 72:03 and cruising to a 3-1 victory on the momentum.
What's Next:
The Royals will celebrate Senior Day and take on St. Catherine's University in their last MIAC matchup of the season next Saturday, Nov. 1, at Ona Orth Athletic Complex. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
