Royals Roll to 5-2 Victory Over Concordia

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel women's hockey team avenged its previous overtime loss to the Concordia College Cobbers taking the series finale, 5-2. The decisive win brings the Royals to a MIAC record of 4-5-1 and an overall record of 9-6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Royals drew first blood at 11:46 when defensemen Reagan Aus ripped a shot from just past the blue line and rocketed the puck past the Cobber goaltender's right shoulder. Her second goal of the season set the Royals up, 1-0, with just over eight minutes in the period.
• The Cobbers managed to even the score just seconds before the first period ended as the congestion in front of the net allowed a forward to tip the puck past BU goaltender Ashley Hess.
• Though the teams ended the first period tied at 1-1, the Royals earned a decisive three-goal lead during the second. Kallie Abrahamson wasted no time setting the Royals ahead, scoring on a massive breakaway opportunity.
Brynn Swenson kept things going for the Royals, scoring back-to-back goals at 1:50 and again at 8:19, first slotting a slick shot past the tender from the far right and then skating it up and taking on the Cobber netminder one-on-one.
• Concordia mixed things up 55 seconds into the third period, managing to get past Hess once again and shortening the Royals' lead.
• But Bethel clung to their two-goal advantage throughout the third period as Hess made eight critical saves to hold the Cobbers from evening the odds, and when they finally pulled their goaltender in the final three minutes.
• Abrahamson earned her second goal of the game on the Cobbers' open net, sealing the game at 5-2, BU.
