ASHLAND, Wis. – A two-goal first period paced the Bethel University women's hockey team to a 3-2 non-conference victory at Ashland Tuesday evening. The win moves BU to 8-5-1 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Brynn Swenson got the scoring started for the Royals lighting up the lamp for the second time this season 3:27 into the first.
Malia McKinnon tallied her fourth assist of the year while
Lindsey Muntifering tailed her sixth.
• With under five minutes to go
Beth Velasco pushed the lead to 2-0.
• Leading the shots battle 14-7, the Royals took the two-goal advantage into the first intermission.

Abbie DeLong tallied what would be the eventual game winner skating it into the zone and firing from the left circle. With 6:20 to go she beat the Lumberjills' goalie sneaking it past her glove side.
• Northland got on the board late in the second period sending BU into the final break up 3-1.
• BU was whistled for its first penalty of the night 15:05 into the third and gave up no shots on the penalty kill that lasted 1:15.
• Northland added one more goal in the final minute, doing so with an extra attacker.
