Hot Shooting Knights Down Royals in Northfield

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's basketball team ran into a hot shooting Carleton squad falling 98-74 Monday evening in Northfield. The Knights shot a season-best 58.5 percent while BU shot 49.2 percent.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
• Bethel's only lead in the night came in the opening 90 seconds at 4-2 and 6-4.
• The Knights picked up steam from 3-point range early with three straight treys to go up 24-13 on the Royals with 11:23 left in the half.
• Emmanuel Schmitter knocked down a trey on the Royals final possession of the half pulling BU within 50-44 at the break.
 
Second Half
• Carleton kept the hot hand behind the arc going 9-of-14 in the second half.
• Bethel struggled to find the bottom of the net as the Knights went on a 16-3 run through the middle six minutes.
• The Royals shot 35.5 percent in the final 20 minuets and were 4-of-13 behind the arc.
 
KEY PERFORMERS
• Payton Thomsen finished with a team-high 15 points while adding two blocks
• Joey Kidder registered a 12-pont, 10-rebound double-double to go along with four assists.
• Nick Burke finished with 13 points and Zach Doely with 12.
 
UP NEXT
The Royals look to bounce back Wednesday at home hosting Hamline for a 7 p.m. tip off.
