MINNEAPOLIS – The Bethel women's hockey team fell once again to the Augsburg University Auggies in the series finale by the same one-goal margin, 2-1, as the Auggies lit up the lamp 2:37 into the 3-on-3 overtime.
The Royals move to a record of 7-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 within the MIAC conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies were first to strike, nabbing a wraparound goal at 6:42 in the first period to take an early lead and outshooting the Royals in the period, 17-7.
• The second period yielded no change in score, yet the momentum was still in Augsburg's favor as they managed to outperform the Royals in offensive plays and shots on net. BU netminder
Anna Hanson kept the score margin tight with her impressive 37 saves throughout the game, 11 of which came from the second period.
• Royals' defenseman
Lindsey Muntifering finally evened the odds five minutes into the third period rifling the puck past the Auggie goaltender.
Malia McKinnon and
Sydney Eckert assisted on Muntifering's goal that came 33 seconds into the Royals lone power play of the afternoon.
• In the five-minute 3-on-3 overtime period, the Auggies clinched the win walking the puck in, taking a shot, and finishing the tricky rebound to sealing the final score at 2-1.

The Royals make a long-haul trip to Northland College in Ashland, Wis., next Tuesday, Jan. 16, for a non-conference matchup. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
