The Bethel University men's golf team looks to improve off its second-place finish at last year's MIAC Championships. The 54-hole event is set to take place Saturday, Sept. 30 through Monday, Oct. 2 in Maple Grove at Rush Creek Golf Course.
For the opening round Bethel's first tee time is set for 11 a.m. teeing off every 10 minutes after.
The Royals have placed first in both 54-hole events they competed in this fall winning the Minnesota Golf Classic with a program-low 865 and Twin Cities Classic two weeks later with an 869.
As a team the Royals are second in the MIAC with a 291.9 scoring average this season. Looking back at last year's championships, the Royals held the lead through the opening two rounds before a 308 in the third round dropped them behind the reigning champions Saint John's.
THE LINEUP
1)
Conor Schubring – MIAC leading 71.9 scoring average over 10 rounds of golf. Two top-five finishes this season. Placed second in last year's championship shooting a two-under-par 214.
2)
David Morton – 73.8 scoring average in 10 rounds. Tied for 21st at last year's championship with a 15-over-par 231.
3)
Jacob Hall – Fourth in the MIAC with a 72.6 scoring average. Two top-five finishes this year in four events. Tied for 11th at last year's championship with a nine-over-par 225. Has shot under par in six rounds this year.
4)
Will Karkoc – 75.3 scoring average in 10 rounds with one top-10 finish this year. Earned All-Conference following a fifth-place finish last year shooting a four-over-par 220 at the Championships.
5)
Ian Stelter – 75.5 scoring average in 10 rounds this season. Competing in first MIAC Championship.
