ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel University volleyball team looked to bounce back on day two of the Kathryn Pals Legacy Invitational, but were swept in both matches Saturday afternoon. BU dropped its opening match of the day to Concordia-Wis. 17-25, 23-25, 24-26 before falling in straight sets to Coe 21-15, 17-25, 17-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bethel's offense was limited to three kills in the opening set while the Falcons hit .143.
• A pair of unforced errors by CUW got the Royals within 16-14 in the opening set before the Falcons closed on a 9-3 run.
• The offense picked up steam early in the second set as a 6-0 run gave them an early 7-3 advantage.
Dani Friedges accounted for four kills during the run.
• The lead slipped away as Concordia-Wis. took it back on a 6-0 run of their own.
• The Royals came within fended off four set points late before Concordia took the second 25-23.
• The teams traded leads early in the third before a 6-0 run by BU put them up 9-5.
• Another kill by Friedges down the stretch made it 19-14 in favor of BU before CUW knotted it up at 21-21.
• BU had set point before the Falcons were able to finish the match with three straight points taking set three 26-24.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Despite hitting .206 the Royals dropped a tight opening set.
• The Royals held a 20-17 lead before Coe went on a 5-0 run taking the lead.
Abigail Drury added a kill before Coe took the opening set with the final three points.
• In the second, Coe hit .375 while holding BU to .029. The Royals tied it early on before Coe pulled away midway through the set.
• The third started tight before Coe took a 13-9 lead with a 6-0 run.
• BU battled back with a kill from
Marley Webb and an ace from
Peyton Howie got them within three, but Coe closed the match scoring six of the final seven points.

Dani Friedges was named to the All-Tournament team finishing the weekend with 26 kills and a .097 attacking percentage.

Bethel heads to the St. Nobert Invitational next weekend. The open up the invite against the host Green Knights Friday night at 7 p.m. Saturday they take on Dominican and Illinois Institute of Technology.
