Davenport, Fla. - The Bethel Univeristy baseball team remains undefeated on their spring trip after a decisive 7-0 victory over the number three team in the nation, UW-Stevens Point on Friday afternoon. The Royals improve to 8-2 on the season.
Bethel pitcher
Marcus Krupke stole the spotlight in this game, throwing eight innings of scoreless baseball with one walk and seven strikeouts on the day to earn his second win of the season.
Justin Winterfeldt and
Keenan Hodgkin had impressive days at the plate, with both players picking up three RBI's.
This game was a pitcher's duel for the majority of the day between Tyler Beyer of UW-Stevens Point and
Marcus Krupke of the Royals as both teams were held scoreless through six innings.
Justin Winterfeld broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh, driving in two runs with a single to left-center field to put the Royals up 2-0 before
Keenan Hodgkin drove in two more with a single up the middle.
Nolan Jurgenson added another run for the Royals with a sacrifice bunt to put Bethel up 5-0.
The Royals followed up their five-run seventh inning by adding two more runs with a
Justin Winterfeldt RBI single up the middle and a
Keenan Hodgkin sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Blake Williams came in for relief of
Marcus Krupke in the ninth to pitch one more scoreless frame and give the Royals the 7-0 victory.
