Three-run Sixth Powers Royals Past UT Dallas

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Bethel University baseball team started out their Florida spring trip in Auburndale with a 3-2 comeback win against UT Dallas early Friday morning.

BU's offense was powered by Matthew Carlsen, Tommy Friesen, Ty Koehn, and Nick Kulseth, each with two hits on the day.

The Royals pitching trio of Ryan Parker, Michael Meadows, and Blake Williams held the Comets to only two runs on the day while Matthew Carlsen and Matt and Tommy Friesen all had RBIs in a tightly contested Bethel victory.

Bethel pitcher Ryan Parker kept this game scoreless until the fourth inning when Luke Finn drove in a run with an RBI single and Colin Ethridge drove in another with a sacrifice fly to put the Comets up 2-0 on the Royals in the bottom of the fourth.

The top of the sixth inning would find the Royals storming back, led by a Matt Friesen RBI single, followed by a Matthew Carlsen RBI double, and a Tommy Friesen RBI sacrifice fly to put the Royals up 3-2. Blake Williams came in for relief of Michael Meadows to start the bottom of the seventh for the Royals and pitched three clean frames to earn the save and the opening trip win for the Royals.
