BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team outshot the Saints 41-31 but fell for the second night in a row to the College of St Scholastica by a score of 5-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Royals found themselves in a hole for the second night in a row after the Ledenkov twins scored the first two goals of the game just under halfway through the first period.
- Filimon Ledenkov put a rebound home at 10:49 and five minutes later Arkhip Ledenkov buried an open net opportunity off of a Royals' turnover.
• All the momentum in the building went to the Royals when
Braeden Bartoo intercepted a pass and scored short-handed with just five seconds left in the first period.
• An action packed second period led to the first lead of the night for the Royals after goals from
Spencer Kring and
Jack Bayless.
• Only two minutes after the go-ahead Bayless goal, the Saints scored their lone power play goal of the night off the stick of Carsen Richels to even the score at 3-3.
• Tristan Shewchuck put away a beautiful feed from Jacob Seitz which would prove to be the game winner.
•The Royals peppered goaltender Jack Bostedt over the final two minutes including over a minute and a half of 5-on-3 hockey. Nothing got through the MIAC's top goaltender and Carsen Rickels' shot from his own blue line into the Royal's empty net sealed the victory.
• A stark contrast from last night's zero penalty game, both teams combined for 13 penalties for 26 penalty minutes.
