BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team picked up its first MIAC sweep of the season after shutting out St. Catherine Saturday evening, 3-0.
Freshman netminder
Ashley Hess picked up her first collegiate shutout collecting 33 saves in the 60-minute effort. Bethel improved to 8-14-0 on the year and 5-11 in MIAC play where they have 17 points in the standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In a game that saw zero penalties, it also saw zero scoring in the opening period where SCU held an 11 to nine shots on goal advantage.
• Bethel finally got on the board as
Brynn Swenson scored with under 1:30 to go in the second. She tallied her fifth goal of the year scoring on a rebound off the original shot of
Kallie Abrahamson who tallied her ninth assist.
• In the third,
Olivia Ruis tallied her first goal of the season making it 2-0 just over two minutes in.

Megan Johnson added the insurance goal firing a wrister from the right circle. It's her third goal in four games and she has now tallied a least one point in four of the last five.
UP NEXT
The Royals open up the final regular-season MIAC series hosting Hamline Friday at 7 p.m. Bethel will need at least a win on Friday to be in MIAC Playoff talks heading into Saturday afternoon.
