BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel women's hockey team earned a substantial victory over the Northland College Lumberjills in a non-conference matchup, 5-1. With the win, the Royals move to a 5-3-1 record on the season.
Emily Wiltse tallied two goals on the night while
Lindsey Muntifering also added two goals along with a pair of assits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Brynn Swenson kicked off the Royals' first goal-yielding opportunity 11:06 into the first period as she walked the puck up for a shot.
Alison Hoerer knocked in the rebound to put the Royals up, 1-0.
• The Lumberjills responded quickly, sneaking the puck past BU goaltender
Ashley Hess just three minutes later. But the Royals, not to be outdone, leveraged themselves ahead of Northland as
Emily Wiltse lobbed a shot into the upper lefthand corner of the net from close range. With just 17 seconds left in the period, the Royals took the lead heading into the second.
• The second period goals came within 45 seconds of each other.
Lindsey Muntifering skated the puck up and rocketed it into the far right corner from a distance, and Wiltse tallied her second goal of the night right after, tapping in a rebounded shot from Muntifering.
• The Royals entered the third period with a 4-1 lead and only increased it in the last 20 minutes. Muntifering earned her second score of the night halfway through, receiving a pass from
Lindsey Albers and burying the puck in the back of the Lumberjill net.
• Hess locked down the Royal goal for the remainder of the time finishing with 19 saves.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Royals will return to the Blaine Super Rink on Friday, Dec. 8, when they host Marian University in another non-conference matchup, the first in the weekend series. The puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
